Health & Safety Policy
Our Commitment
At Lotus Beauty, the health and safety of our clients and team members is our highest priority. We maintain strict hygiene, sanitation, and infection control practices in accordance with the NSW Public Health Act 2010, the Public Health Regulation 2022, and applicable Work Health & Safety guidelines.
This policy outlines the standards we uphold to ensure every visit is safe, clean, and comfortable.
Hygiene & Infection Control
Premises
- All treatment rooms, workstations, and common areas are cleaned and sanitised throughout the day and at the end of each business day
- Treatment surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between every client
- Clean, single-use protective coverings are used for each client and replaced after every service
- Fresh towels and linens are provided for each client — used linens are laundered in hot water with detergent after each use
- Waste is securely bagged and disposed of daily
Equipment & Tools
- All reusable tools that come into contact with skin are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilised between each client
- Tools used in skin penetration procedures (e.g., cuticle nippers, extraction tools) are sterilised using an appropriate sterilisation method before each use
- Single-use items (nail files, buffers, wax applicator sticks, cotton pads, gloves) are disposed of after a single use and never reused
- Waxing products are dispensed using a fresh spatula for each application — used spatulas are never re-dipped into the wax pot
- All equipment is regularly inspected to ensure it is in good working order
Hand Hygiene
- All staff wash and sanitise their hands before and after each client service
- Hand sanitiser is available throughout the salon for both staff and clients
- Staff cover any cuts or wounds with sealed, waterproof bandages
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Staff wear clean, protective attire (aprons or gowns) during services
- Single-use disposable gloves are worn during all skin penetration procedures, including facials involving extractions, cuticle care, and waxing where there is expected exposure to bodily substances
- Gloves are changed between clients and between different procedures on the same client where appropriate
Product Safety
- We use only professional-grade, reputable skincare and beauty products compliant with Australian regulations
- All products are stored according to manufacturer instructions, with expiry dates monitored regularly
- Product ingredients are available upon request for clients who wish to review them
- Skincare machines used in facial treatments are maintained and operated in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
Candle & Oil Massage — Signature Ingredients: Our signature Candle & Oil Massage uses a soy-based blend containing Vitamin E, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, and Shea Butter. Clients with known allergies to any of these ingredients should inform us before their service.
Client Consultation & Consent
Intake Form
Before receiving any service, all clients are asked to complete an intake form at reception. This form collects important health and personal information to ensure your safety, including:
- Known allergies or sensitivities (e.g., skincare ingredients, fragrances, latex, metals)
- Current skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, active acne, sunburn, open wounds)
- Medical conditions that may affect treatment (e.g., pregnancy, diabetes, blood-clotting disorders, epilepsy, recent surgery)
- Current medications (e.g., blood thinners, retinoids, antibiotics)
- Previous adverse reactions to beauty treatments
This information is kept confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy and is used solely to provide you with a safe and personalised service.
Ongoing Consultation
- Our therapists will discuss your preferences, expectations, and any concerns before beginning your treatment
- If any contraindication is identified, our therapist may recommend an alternative service or advise against proceeding — this is done in the interest of your health and safety
- Returning clients may be asked to update their intake form whenever health circumstances change
Consent
By completing the intake form and proceeding with your appointment, you consent to receive the booked service. If a therapist identifies a potential risk during the service, they may pause or discontinue the treatment. No charge will apply for any portion of a service discontinued by us for safety reasons.
For clients under the age of 12, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent and complete the intake form on the child's behalf.
